Locally owned, the company has been managed for more than 14 years by President Berke Crawford Advanced Roofing is a relatively small company, with about 12 employees, and maintains a personal approach to business. The firm has built a reputation for excellent customer service and support and for consistent quality, major factors that have contributed to the company's continued growth and success. Much of its business comes from referrals or from repeat customers who own other properties. WHAT TO EXPECT IN A CONSULTATION It's more than a ladder and a tape measure Good customer relations begin with your first phone call Perhaps you've been procrastinating about what may be inevitable - you need a new roof but were afraid to ask or didn't know who to ask about replacing it. Or maybe you phoned several companies about getting a free bid, didn't hear from anyone for several weeks, and then found a crumpled estimate stuffed in your mailbox. Advanced Roofing takes your inquiries seriously - and personally. When you call us for a consultation, we will arrange for one of our professionally trained estimators to meet with you to answer your questions, address your concerns and offer you options and pricing guidelines. But before making a recommendation, the estimator will want all the facts. So be prepared for a half-hour meeting with the estimator. You'll be asked about your home's (or building's) history, about any leaks, and about what future plans you may have for the structure. The estimator may also want to view the interior of your home before inspecting the roof. We won't sell you what you don't need If it is determined that repair rather than replacement is the best course of action, you have our promise that we won't try to sell you a new roof. When you contract with Advanced Roofing, your estimator - yes, the same person who first met with you - will see the job through and ensure that you are a satisfied customer. You will not be told a new roof is your only remedy when less expensive repairs can solve your problem. When appropriate, a number of options for solving your roofing needs will be provided. Also, our estimators are excellent roof detectives. They excel at determining the source and cause of difficult roof leaks. We provide written estimates that are detailed, specific and easy to understand. This means you will actually understand what work will be done and how much it will cost before you decide to proceed. If you have trouble understanding the written estimate, the estimator will be happy to drop by and explain the estimate and proposed roof work. Supervision of work in progress You will be kept informed regarding scheduling of your roof project. You will not be left in the dark wondering when your job will be started and completed. Our superintendent closely supervises the construction of your roof work, making sure the crews are supplied with proper materials and equipment to complete the job to the specifications and in a timely fashion. Problems that may arise during the reroofing process are addressed and never covered up. You will be given an accurate assessment and any additional costs to correct the problems before proceeding with the repairs. We follow up all roof jobs with a phone call to the customer to make sure the customer is satisfied with the completed roof job. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the completed roof work, you will feel comfortable in discussing them with your estimator during the follow-up phone call. Highly Skilled Journeymen Only technically skilled tradesmen are employed by Advanced Roofing. Each new employee is required to complete an extensive training program that consists of over 4,000 hours of training. The service life of any roof system is dependent upon the knowledge and skill of the tradesmen installing it. Because our journeymen are so well trained, you can be assured of getting one of the highest quality roof systems in the industry. Conscientious Job Site Management Your most prized possession is undoubtedly your home and you will be pleased to see how meticulous we are – making sure your home is well protected from any damage that could occur during the construction work. We are one of the few roofing companies that will go to the added expense of tarping and erecting scaffolding, as necessary, to protect your home and garden areas. Our work is not complete until the job site has been swept clean and is free of all roofing debris. You will be very pleased at our attention to detail and how clean and neat your property will be afterwards. Future Follow Up Roof Inspection And Maintenance Program. We provide scheduled roof inspections of your new roof and recommendations for any needed roof maintenance. One reason your new roof will outlast other roofs in the industry is because of our extensive roof inspections and maintenance program that you will be eligible for as an Advanced Roofing customer. We are one of the very few roofing companies that provide this follow up program. HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF As a consumer, there are several safety measures you can take to ensure that the company you hire for roofing services is a legitimate operation that adheres to ethical business practices. For every roofing company you're considering, you should know the following information – and don't just take their word for it, do some research on your own to make sure that all of the information they're providing you is accurate: 1. IMPORTANT: Never provide a payment before any services have been initiated. A roofing company should never ask for payment "up front" - this is a BIG RED FLAG! Advanced Roofing, as with any other reputable company, does not require a payment until we begin work on your property. At that time, we will either require the initial payment sent from your insurance company, or %50 of the total cost of the project if you are providing the payments personally 2. Go to the Secretary of State website to make sure that the company is properly registered with the state: For Washington: http://www.lni.wa.gov/tradeslicensing For Oregon: http://www.oregon.gov/CCB/Licensingl 3. Validate their general liability insurance. Ask for proof of insurance and call their insurance provider to confirm that their policy is current. The policy should cover at least $1,000,000 for each occurrence and $1,000,000 for general aggregate. You can also ask for a document called an Insurance Acord Certificate that would be written out to your specific address. This certificate basically acts as a contract ensuring that the company's general liability insurance will not go into default or be cancelled while work on your property is in progress. 4. Make sure that they carry a worker's compensation policy. 5. Have the company provide you with their business license number. Business licenses are required in Washington & Oregon. 6. Check to see if they are accredited with any other industry related associations, such as the NRCA (National Roofers and Contractors Association). The more organizations a business is accredited to or a member of, the better. 7. Ask for references. Don't just take a company's word for it, make a couple of phone calls to people on their reference list, and talk with them about their experience. 8. Visit the company's website. What you're doing right now is one of the easiest ways to get a better understanding of a company and the services they offer. In addition to providing general information, the company should also include helpful information for the customer. 9. It may seem obvious, but be aware of appearances. Do the company and the representative present themselves in a clean, professional manner? Does their vehicle have information related to the company clearly and professionally displayed (magnetic signage can be a warning sign)? All of our representatives wear SOS Roofing shirts when conducting face-to-face business with our customers, and our vehicles are marked with professionally applied graphics that clearly show our logo, phone number and website address.
